Bruno Leingkone (born October 22, 1968 in Ambrym ) is a Vanuatu politician and former foreign minister of the island state .

Career

At the beginning of his career, Leingkone worked in various positions, including as a journalist and deputy managing director, at Vanuatu Broadcasting & Television Corporation (VBTC). In the parliamentary elections in 2012 he ran for the National United Party (NUP) and succeeded in asserting himself in his constituency of Ambrym and thus entering the parliament of Vanuatu for the first time . In the subsequent election in 2016, he was able to maintain his mandate . On February 11, 2016, he became Foreign Minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Charlot Salwai . He held this post until December 19, 2017. In his role as Foreign Minister, he received the Gold Award at the Crans Montana Forum in March 2016 in Ad-Dakhla , Western Sahara , for Vanuatu's fight against climate change .
