Bruno Rossetti

Bruno Mario Rossetti (born October 9, 1960 in Troyes , France ; † February 9, 2018 in Montecatini Terme , Italy ) was a French sport shooter in the skeet discipline until 1985 , and from 1989 he competed for Italy. In 1992 he won an Olympic bronze medal.

Athletic career

Bruno Rossetti was the European Junior Champion in skeet in 1977. In 1979 he won his first European title. In 1980 he was vice European champion, in 1981 fifth at the European championships and third at the world championships. In 1982 he won the European Championships for the second time and was sixth in the World Championships. In 1983 he received the silver medal behind Matthew Dryke from the United States at the World Championships in Edmonton . In 1985 he finished fifth again at the European Championships.

From 1989 Rossetti started for Italy. He won the European Championships in Zagreb; at the world championships in Montecatini Terme he finished second behind Claudio Giovannangelo , the Italian team with Andrea Benelli , Giovannangelo and Rossetti won the team competition. In 1990 Rossetti defended his European title in Uddevalla. In 1991 Rossetti won the individual championship at the World Championships in Perth, the team won silver behind the team from Czechoslovakia. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, ​​Rossetti was the only Italian to reach the skeet final. There the Chinese Zhang Shan won , followed by three shooters with 198 hits in the qualification and 24 hits in the final. In the shootout, the Peruvian Juan Jorge Giha won silver in front of Bruno Rossetti and the Romanian Ioan Toman .

In 1994 in Fagnano Olona Rossetti won his second individual title at world championships, the Italian team with Rossetti, Benelli and Ennio Falco won the team competition after they had already won the European championships in the same lineup. His son Gabriele won the Olympic gold medal in the skeet in 2016 .
