Bruno Stephan Scherer

Bruno Stephan Scherer OSB (born March 20, 1929 in Gretzenbach ; † August 11, 2017 in Menzingen ZG ) was a Swiss writer .

Life

Scherer was the son of Alois Scherer and Hedwig Scherer born. Hürzeler and became a Benedictine of Mariastein . He studied philosophy and theology in Freiburg im Üechtland and Mariastein. After being ordained a priest in 1954, he studied German , art history and education in Freiburg im Üechtland and in Munich from 1959 to 1964 . After receiving his doctorate in 1966 with a dissertation on Reinhold Schneider and a high school teacher diploma, he taught at the college and at the Uri Adult Education Center, worked in pastoral care in Zurich from 1974 and was pastor in Beinwil SO from 1984 to 2008 . He was a co-founder of the Reinhold Schneider Society, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Promotion of Culture of the Canton of Solothurn and of the Federal Commission of Experts on Swiss Cultural Policy. In 1957 he received the Poetry Prize from Radio DRS and in 1990 the Literature Prize of the Canton of Solothurn.
