Bruno Tommasi

Bruno Tommasi (born January 14, 1930 in Montignoso , Massa-Carrara Province , Italy ; † September 17, 2015 in Lucca ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and Archbishop of Lucca .

Life

Bruno Tommasi was ordained a priest on July 6, 1958 . He then worked as a spiritual and later as rector of the seminary of Lucca.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on June 10, 1983, Coadjutor Bishop of Apuania and Bishop of Pontremoli . Cardinal Chamberlain Paolo Bertoli donated him episcopal ordination on July 12 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Giuseppe Fenocchio , former bishop of Pontremoli, and Giuliano Agresti , archbishop of Lucca.

After the union of the diocese of Massa with the diocese of Pontremoli, he was appointed bishop of this new diocese on February 23, 1988. On March 20, 1991, he was appointed Archbishop of Lucca. On January 22, 2005, John Paul II accepted his resignation due to reasons of age. Bruno Tommasi died of a stroke in September 2015.
