Bruno Valencony (born June 16, 1968 in Bellerive-sur-Allier ) is a former French football goalkeeper .

Career

Valencony began his career at the third-rate training club INF Vichy. There he moved up to the first team in 1986 at the age of 18 and made his first appearances. In 1987 he moved to the second division club SC Bastia . At Bastia he was initially only a reservist. In the 1989/90 season he was allowed to appear for the team for the first time and came to a total of ten missions. Nevertheless, it took until the 1993/94 season that Valencony could finally establish itself in the gate. He was at every game on the court and celebrated with his team promotion to the first division . He was also able to defend his regular position in the elite class. Moving into the final of the Coupe de la Ligue in 1995, he achieved one of the greatest successes of his career, even if it was lost 2-0 to Paris Saint-Germain . In 1996 he left the club and moved to the also first-class OGC Nice . With this he rose in 1997 at the end of his first season in the second division, but was able to win the only title of his career by winning the national cup . In the final, Nice defeated EA Guingamp after a 1-1 draw 4-3 on penalties, with Valencony holding the decisive penalty. In the following years he was pushed out of the gate more and more. After returning to the first division in 2002, he was initially no longer used. Therefore, the then 35-year-old Valencony worked as a goalkeeping coach for the OGC from 2003 onwards. In the 2004/05 season he came to his last game in the league after two seasons without being in the first team. At the end of the season, he ended his career at the age of 37. From then on he worked as a full-time goalkeeping coach for Nice. As such, he was involved in the training of Hugo Lloris . In 2012, his contract was not renewed.
