Free brooders

As free Breeders in are Ornithology such bird species referred to their nests to create free, that is not in cavities ( cavity nesters ) or in niches ( niche breeder ). However, it is not a systematic term in the scientific sense .

The nesting places of free breeders can be in very different places depending on the species . For many bird species, trees , bushes , hedges , brushwood piles , reeds , etc. come into consideration. As free breeder z. B. chaffinch , bullfinch , red- backed shrike , wren , dunnock , song thrush and blackbird .

But for other free-breeding species, buildings or their roofs , rock walls and water islands can offer suitable nesting sites. So-called ground breeders are also basically free breeders .
