Bryan Crabtree

Bryan James Crabtree (born June 18, 1974 in Winfield, Illinois ) is a retired American basketball player .

Life

The 2.02 meter tall Crabtree played from 1993 to 1997 at Illinois Wesleyan University in his home country. For the university team of the third NCAA division, he increased his points per game in each year from 10.8 (1993/94) to 22.6 (1996/97). He was named Player of the Year 1997 in NCAA 3 by the Association of US Basketball Coaches NABC after winning the college league championship with Illinois Wesleyan and scoring 28 points in the final. As a six-foot winger, Crabtree was endowed with skills that resembled those of a playmaker. With 1871 points, he sat third on the all-time basket hunter list of Illinois Wesleyan University.

He began his career as a professional player in the Czech Republic with BK Opava and won the national championship with the team in the spring. The American also took part in the EuroCup European Cup with the Czech club . In the 1998/99 season Crabtree first played for Basket Bayreuth in the German basketball league . He scored an average of 18.6 points in eleven Bundesliga games, his best performance in one encounter was 41 points, which he set up in a duel with Würzburg. Since Bayreuth lacked the economic means to pay Crabtree until the end of the season, he returned to BK Opava in January 1999.

He moved to Benfica Lisbon in Portugal in 2000 . Between 2001 and 2003 he played for UD Oliveirense , also in Portugal. During this time he won the Portuguese Cup and the League Cup with the team, and in 2003 they became runner-up. At European level he competed with UD Oliveirense in the Korac Cup in 2001/02 and in the FIBA ​​Europe Champions Cup in 2002/03.

In October 2003, Crabtree, who was particularly valued in Portugal for his accuracy in the three-point throw, returned to Benfica Lisbon. After the end of the 2003/04 season, he retired from competitive sports and worked in the financial sector in his home country . The graduate in business administration founded a company for financial consulting.
