Career

Club level

Sanyang has been guarding the goal in Gambia since 2011 at the latest for the first division club Brikama United and won the Gambian national championship in 2011 with the team . In 2012 he played with the team in the CAF Champions League against the defending champion and later finalist Espérance Tunis (1: 1 and 1: 3). At the end of 2012 it was awarded to the army team FC Armed Forces on the occasion of the Comparoé Trophy , the African military championship held in Ivory Coast . Also in the 2013 season he was a player on the army team with which he finished third in the championship. At the beginning of 2014 he was active in Liberia, where he played for the second division club Nimba United , with whom he achieved promotion to the first Liberian division.

In 2015 he came to Germany as a refugee after it was reported in early 2015 that he was going to Spain for a trial training session, and subsequently joined the Württemberg league club VfL Nagold . There he first played as a striker, only at the turn of the year 2016/2017 - Nagold had meanwhile been relegated to the state league - he returned to his goalkeeping position. At the side of former professional footballers such as Pascal Reinhardt and Raphael Schaschko , he rose with Nagold in the 2017/18 season as a relay champion in the sixth-class association league Württemberg .

National teams

Sanyang took part with the Gambian U17 selection at the 2011 U-17 African Cup in Rwanda and a few months later was also part of the squad at the 2011 U-20 African Cup in South Africa. In 2012 and 2013 he took part in a tournament in Umbria , Italy with a Gambian U19 selection , with the U20 he played in 2014 as team captain in the qualification for the U-20 African Championship 2015 , but the team was won after a 1-0 win. Opening victory in Liberia disqualified because of the use of players over the age limit. In November 2014 he played with a selection of players active in Gambia at a tournament in Senegal.

As early as 2012, Sanyang was promoted to the Gambian national team . He made his debut for the senior national team as part of qualifying for the 2013 African Cup of Nations in a 4-1 defeat in Algeria ; in the 2014 World Cup qualifying , he was in five of six group matches in 2012 and 2013 and was up for grabs the last two matchdays against Morocco (0-2) and Tanzania (2-0) in goal.
