The Buchberg is a 674 m high mountain in the Bavarian Fichtel Mountains .
The elevation made of porphyry granite is located south of the village of Reicholdsgrün , a district of the city of Kirchenlamitz in the district of Wunsiedel in the Fichtel Mountains .
The 23 hectare forest is one of the few near-natural deciduous forests in the Fichtelgebirge ( Hainsimsen-Buchenwald ), which is why the area has been a protected natural monument and Natura 2000 area since 1938 .
On the north side of the granite wall there is a memorial plaque for Arthur Münch, who took over the forest and game maintenance there for decades.
Geotope
The Buchberg summit is designated as a valuable geotope (geotope number: 479R011) and a natural monument by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment .
