Bucloc is a Filipino municipality in the province of Abra .
geography
The municipality of Bucloc is located between 500 and 1000 meters above sea level in the north of the island of Luzon about 52 km from Bangued . The rivers Bucloc , Abas and Manicbel as well as numerous streams ensure the natural drainage of the area.
climate
Bucloc belongs to climate type I according to the corona system of the Philippine climate classification , which is characterized by a dry season from November to April and a rainy season from May to October. The annual average rainfall amounts to 3100 to 4100 mm. The monthly average temperatures are between 25.5 ° C in January and 28.8 ° C in May. An average of 15 to 19 typhoons pass annually .

Population structure and development
96.35% of the population belong to the Tingguian ethnic group . Bucloc has 2109 inhabitants in 357 households (census 1st May 2000), in 1995 there were 1918 inhabitants with an average annual population growth of 0.38%.
Economy and Infrastructure
The most important branch of the economy is agriculture , rice is the most important field product and is grown on 182 hectares, 103 hectares of which are irrigated, the average yields for dry rice cultivation are 1.5 t / ha and 2.5 t / ha for wet rice cultivation. The total harvest is 225 t. Maize is grown on 20 ha, the average yield is 1 t / ha, so the total harvest is 20 t. Furthermore, vegetables, peanuts , fruit including mangoes , bananas and pineapples , root vegetables , sweet potatoes , gabi and cassava are grown on 60 hectares of commercial crops. Coffee is grown on about 15 hectares on a small area tiger grass and anato are grown. The most important meat products are beef, pork and water buffalo meat (as of 1997). In addition, furniture is produced in several factories. Bucloc has copper deposits .
All four barangays and 2/3 of all households are connected to the power grid (as of 1998).

The road network consists of 62 km of roads owned by the municipality (4 km), the Barangays (54 km) and the province (as of 1993). During the rainy season , the roads are impassable for heavier vehicles.
education
Bucloc has three public and one private elementary schools , the rate of malnourished or undernourished children is 59.73%. The literacy rate is 85.32% (as of 1995).
Events / current situation
Bucloc was hit by a severe earthquake on July 16, 1990, which devastated large parts of the rural communities. In connection with the unusually early onset of the monsoon rain, the softened soil plunged into the valley in countless landslides and destroyed villages, transport infrastructure and countless terraces. Bucloc was and continues to be a combat zone of the New People's Army (NPA) with the Philippine Army and the militia.
