Bud Yorkin

Alan David "Bud" Yorkin (born February 22, 1926 in Washington , Pennsylvania , † August 18, 2015 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American director and producer .

Life

Before his career, Yorkin studied engineering at Carnegie Mellon University . In the first years of his career he worked as a director and producer for television. He directed various television films and episodes from a wide variety of television series. He made his cinema debut in 1963 with When my bedroom could speak .

He worked with producer Norman Lear for many years . Together they founded Tandem Productions in 1959, which among other things owned the rights to Blade Runner from Ridley Scott . They separated in 1983.

He has received an Emmy Award three times to date .

Bud Yorkin was married to Peg Diem from 1954 to 1984; From this marriage came the producers and scriptwriters Nicole Yorkin (* 1958) and David Yorkin (* 1961). The 1989 marriage with actress Cynthia Sikes resulted in a daughter (* 1992) and a son (* 1994).

Yorkin died on August 18, 2015 at the age of 89 at his Bel Air home .
