The Buddenberg Arboretum is an arboretum founded in 1966 in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Bad Driburg in Germany. The facility is located - around one kilometer as the crow flies - in the east of the Driburg town center. The arboretum in "Adolf-Buddenberg-Park" has an area of around 10 hectares and is home to over 100 tree species . The freely accessible park is named after its initiator, the Driburg entrepreneur Adolf Buddenberg (1904–1969), who u. a. Chairman of the Driburger Kur- und Verkehrsverein was.

The arboretum is located on the 292 m high Steinberg, a section of the ridge that frames the Driburg Valley on its east side. The good 1.5 km long ridge is composed of limestone - limestone , which in the Steinberg to the 20th century in a quarry was recovered. Narrow stream valleys separate the Steinberg from its northern continuation of the Rosenberg and the southern Sülburg. Rosenberg and Steinberg directly adjoin the Gräflichen Park and form the transition into the open forest landscape.

20 Bronze Age burial mounds have been preserved on the Steinberg , which were a tourist attraction even before the arboretum was founded.

While Rosenberg, located to the north, was acquired by the spa founder Caspar Heinrich von Sierstorpff as early as 1792 and incorporated into the spa landscape from a pasture and wood through afforestation, planting of dog roses and the creation of walking paths, this is from 1966 through cooperation between the city, municipal forest office and spa and health resort Buddenberg-Arboretum was created by the tourist office and is an extension of this “well-tended” landscape. Initially around 300 native and foreign woody species were planted, of which more than 200 proved to be suitable for the location and the climate. The facility is maintained by the forestry company, and the “exotic tree park” is also maintained by a private work group.

Species of wood that can be naturalized can be explored in the arboretum. There is a botanical nature trail, and the trails in the park expand the urban recreational space. From the parking lot above the residential area at 250 m above sea level , at the former, geologically interesting quarry, a one-hour circular route leads up and around the mountain. There are shelters and benches at lookout points. Visual axes that are kept free of vegetation allow a view of the surrounding landscape, the Egge Mountains and, if the visibility is good, the Weser Uplands . The 18 km Sachsenring hiking trail also runs over the Steinberg , all around the Driburg Valley.
