Buffaloed is a 2019 American tragic comedy starring Zoey Deutch and Judy Greer . Directed by Tanya Wexler , the screenplay by Brian Sacca . The film was shown for the first time at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 27, 2019 and was released in selected cinemas on February 14, 2020.

Hobby scammer Peg Dahl is ready to do anything to finally leave her hometown of Buffalo , New York . Because it just doesn't feel a part of the city that is considered the city of debt collectors in the United States. She'd rather make it to an Ivy League university. But when a letter of acceptance for the school of her dreams arrives, she realizes that it is almost impossible to raise the living costs for the university. One chance phone call changes everything and leads you into the lucrative but complex and seedy business of debt collection. Peg is a natural and makes it easy for money, but soon the higher animals of debt collection notice her.

In July 2018, it was announced that Zoey Deutch and Jermaine Fowler had joined the cast. Judy Greer's announcement followed in August 2018 .

Filming began on July 24, 2018 in Toronto, Canada and ended on August 23, 2018.

criticism

The film received the approval of 77 percent of all Rotten Tomatoes reviews and achieved a rating of 6.5 out of a possible 10 points.

Scott Marks of San Diego Reader called Buffaloed a stripped-down but very charming version of a she-wolf of Wall Street.
