The Buni Zom is the second highest mountain in the Hinduraj Mountains .

The Buni Zom is located in the Chitral district of the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa . The mountain reaches a height of 6551  m (according to other sources 6542 m). The Buni Zom was considered the highest mountain in Hinduraj until the 1960s. The mountain is flanked by the Khorabohr Glacier in the west and the Gordoghan Glacier in the east. Both glaciers flow south and feed the Phargram Gol , a right tributary of the Mastuj .

Ascent history

The New Zealanders WKA Berry and CH Tyndale-Biscoe made the first ascent in 1957 over the southwest ridge. A second ascent of Buni Zom took place in 1975 via the south face by the Japanese Masao Okabe, Hideo Sato and Shigeru Tabe. The Americans Joe Reinhard and Richard J. Isherwood made a third ascent of the mountain in 1979 via the south face and the west ridge.
