The Mastuj is the left headwaters of the Kunar in the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa .
The Mastuj arises near the small town of Mastuj at the confluence of the Yarkhun and Laspur rivers . From there it flows in a south-westerly direction through the mountains of the Chitral district . An important right tributary is the Turikho . The Chitral - Mastuj trunk road follows the course of the river. About 7 km north of Chitral, the Lutkho meets the Mastuj from the right and unites with it to form the Kunar. The Mastuj has a length of 100 km. The Mastuj river valley forms the dividing line between Hinduraj in the east and Hindu Kush in the west.
