Burckhard Dörr (born May 25, 1947 in Berlin ) is a German engineer and former member of the People's Chamber of the BFD .

Life

Dörr's parents Kurt and Lucie had been the owners of a textile laundry in Schöneiche since 1946. After attending secondary school in Schöneiche, Dörr did an apprenticeship as a laundry worker in his parents' business. After completing his apprenticeship, Dörr completed a course of study at the engineering school for textile technology in Forst / Lausitz , from which he graduated as an engineer for textile technology. In 1970, the parental company was initially converted into a semi-state limited partnership , a few years later it became VE service company Schöneiche. Dörr returned to the company after completing his studies and worked until the political change as the manager of this state-owned company, which had 12 acceptance points in the Schöneiche area at the end of the GDR . Dörr converted the company into a GmbH and in 1992 already employed 45 people. In 2002 Dörr's company had 120 sales points in the region. Shortly afterwards, Dörr had to close the company. DÖRR Textilpflege Schöneiche GmbH continued to run under a new company owner, and Dörr himself was the managing director for some time. In 2011 the company finally went bankrupt.

Political career

As early as 1964, Dörr joined the LDPD , which in the GDR was mainly elected by the self-employed. At the time of political change and the new economic opportunities, Dörr also began to be politically active. In January 1990 he became LDPD local chairman in Schöneiche. At the extraordinary party congress of the LDPD on February 10, 1990 in Dresden , he was elected to the party executive. In the context of the first free parliamentary elections on March 18, 1990, Dörr ran for the list association Bund Free Democrats , to which the LDPD, the DFP and the FDP of the GDR belonged. Dörr was elected by the representative assembly of the BFD on February 26, 1990 as the top candidate for the constituency of Frankfurt / Oder . Since the BFD was able to win a mandate with 4.2% of the votes in the electoral district, Dörr moved into the People's Chamber as a BFD member. After the LDPD and NDPD merged to form the BFD party, Dörr was also elected to the BFD party executive. With the unification congress of the FDP in August 1990 Dörr became a member of the FDP. In 1997 he served as the mayor of Reinhardshain for some time . In September 1998 Dörr was elected as the FDP representative in the Schöneich municipal council, where he was immediately elected chairman. 2001 Dörr resigned from this office.
