The Niederungsburg was first mentioned in 1333. However, the remains that are still preserved today were probably not built until 1486. The mansion was built in the 15th and 16th centuries. Rebuilt in the 18th century , the gate tower , which was demolished in 1846, in the 17th century and the farm buildings expanded in the 17th and 18th centuries. Work was still being carried out on the east wing in the 19th century. The castle with the rectangular floor plan has an outer moat and an additional wall on the west and south sides. There are loopholes in the outer walls . What has been preserved is a 14-meter-high, four- story round tower made of quarry stone in the north corner.

The castle is privately owned and is used as a farm. The property can only be viewed from the outside.
