In 1894 Václav Špaček von Starburg bought the ruins. Under the direction of the architect Eduard Sochor , the castle was restored between 1911 and 1918 and designed in the neo-Gothic style. In 1948 the castle became the property of the state. In 2001 the castle was granted the status of a national cultural monument .
