history
The moated castle was built in the 14th century by the lords of Wincheringen and mentioned in 1333. As early as the 10th to 12th centuries, Folmarus de Winchern was named in the Mettlach Abbey register of properties, a family of Wincheringen. In 1357 the electoral Trier castle was given to the barons of Warsberg as a fief and remains in their possession until the end of the 18th century. In the 15th century the keep was built , in the 16th century the manor house , in 1830 the bells of the parish church of St. Peter were placed in the keep and in 1850 extensive renovations took place which changed the original condition considerably.
During the Second World War the defense tower was destroyed and rebuilt. The Warsberghaus and the fortified tower have been owned by the local community of Wincheringen since 1975 .
investment
The 17 meter high fortified tower ( keep ) from the 15th century with a stair tower protruding on three sides and a renaissance portal still serves as a bell tower and is the landmark of the local community of Wincheringen. The three-storey mansion from the 16th century in the Renaissance style serves today as a community office and event hall.
