As a 17-year-old Burgl Färberinger attracted attention when in 1963 she jumped in for the sick Heidi Biebl and Barbi Henneberger in a downhill race in Schruns and came seventh ahead of other “strong riders”. With this, Färberinger underlined that she had been one of the three best German female skiers since the 1962/63 season. She celebrated the greatest success of her career at the Alpine World Ski Championships in Portillo in 1966 , when she won the bronze medal in the downhill . However, the medal was only awarded to her years later after it became clear that the original winner Erika Schinegger was actually a man. Färberinger won a World Cup slalom on February 1, 1967 in Monte Bondone .
At the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble , she finished sixth in slalom and tenth in giant slalom . In 1963, 1965, 1966 and 1969 Färberinger won the title of German downhill champion, in 1967 and 1968 in giant slalom and in 1966 and 1968 in slalom. She also won a well-attended FIS race in Aare on 9/10. March 1968 in slalom and giant slalom and thus also in combination. After the 1969 season, Färberinger retired from competitive sports and, together with her husband Max Leo, ran a guesthouse and a ski school.
