Burgstall Beigarten

The Burgstall Beigarten , also called Burgstall Straßlach , is an abandoned castle in Beigarten , a district of the Upper Bavarian municipality of Straßlach-Dingharting in the district of Munich . It is entered as a ground monument in the Bavarian list of monuments.

location

The Burgstall is located about 500 meters west of the town of Beigarten on the Isar high bank on a rocky promontory from Nagelfluh , which drops steeply on three sides. Due to the forest cover on the Isar slope, this protrusion can hardly be seen. Opposite the Burgstall on the left bank of the Isar, the Schäftlarn monastery is about one kilometer west of the Burgstall.

history

The Lords of Beigarten are first mentioned in a document in 1089. A first castle complex should have existed even then. In 1184 and 1186 a Konrad von Beigarten was named as Ministeriale von Freising . In 1239 the castle was rebuilt. In 1276 the lords of Beigarten died out. The castle grounds fell to the Schäftlarn monastery, which deliberately let the castle fall into disrepair.

description

The original Burgplatz has only been partially preserved and some of it has fallen down into the Isar valley. The rock spur is separated from the hinterland by earth walls and ditches . The entire area is wooded.
