The Burgstallwald is a contiguous forest area in the urban area of Gunzenhausen in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen .

The area is located in the middle of the Altmühltal Nature Park in an FFH area . The forest area is located east of Gunzenhausen town center, bounded by Frickenfelden in the east and the city of Gunzenhausen in the north and west. To the south of the forest are Reutberg , Weinberg , Oberasbach and Obenbrunn . Leonhardsruh was on the western edge of the forest . The Lindenhof is located within the forest area . The Gunzenhausen-Reutberg airfield and the Gunzenhausen hospital are located on the southern edge of the forest . The highest point in the forest is the Schloßbuck .

The Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes ran through the forest area . Some guard posts of the Limes as well as the small fort at the Hinteren Schloßbuck are designated as ground monuments . The Gunzenhäuser Bismarck monument is located in the forest .
