Lindenhof is a district of the city of Gunzenhausen in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . The wasteland lies east of Gunzenhausen's old town on the south-eastern edge of a bulge in the “Burgstall” forest area.

history

The Lindenhof was built in 1919 by the graduate engineer and malt factory owner Willi Eidam († 1936) from Gunzenhausen at a fish pond on the edge of the castle stable as a restaurant with an apartment in the "Upper Bavarian hunting lodge style" and he moved in in 1922. A small farm was also part of it. From 1924 guest rooms were offered. In 1929 a house was added. From 1933 the Lindenhof took in mothers in need of rest. The sale of spring water from a forest well, which was delivered under the name "Lindenhof-Quelle", brought additional income. In 1940 the widow Eidam sold the property to the Schumann family. After the Second World War, the former owner, Stefanie Eidam, ran a student hostel for up to 30 students in the Lindenhof until 1949.

In 1925 the Lindenhof was not yet listed in the official register of places. In 1950 the two buildings of the Lindenhof were inhabited by 24 people. In 1961 the Lindenhof consisted of a residential building with four residents. The district character of the Lindenhof was more and more abolished in favor of the urban area of Gunzenhausen.

In the 1960s, the former excursion restaurant became a maternal convalescent home with an attached lounge area. In 1997 a new building took place. Today the building complex is used as the “AWO-Seenlandklinik”, a spa house and sanatorium for mother and child by the Arbeiterwohlfahrt -Bezirksverband Ober- und Mittelfranken e. V. operated. The facility offers 84 places (34 for mothers and 50 for children).
