Schlungenhof is a district of Gunzenhausen in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen in Bavaria with just under 400 inhabitants.

location

The village is located in the Franconian Lake District , about one kilometer north of Gunzenhausen and a little east of the Altmühlsee . It is structurally separated from Gunzenhausen by two industrial areas only by the Altmühlüberleiter and the Treuchtlingen – Würzburg railway line . The Heidweihergraben flows through it. The Altort is located west of the federal highway 13 , most of the place was built from the second half of the 20th century.

history

In the 14th century Schlungenhof was first mentioned in the Ellwang fief books as "Slummenhof", "Slumenhauen" or "Schlummenhofen". Like many other villages in the area, Schlungenhof was badly affected in the Thirty Years' War ; of the fourteen farms then owned by the von Lentersheim family, ten were ruined.

Schlungenhof logo in the form of a coat of arms

By 1808 the village had grown back to 30 farmsteads, some of which had impressive farmland, and there was a village smithy and an inn. There was no chapel or cemetery there and practically nothing of the historical building fabric has been preserved since the building boom of the 1960s to 1980s. In the course of the municipal reform in Bavaria , the previously independent municipality was incorporated into the city of Gunzenhausen on April 1, 1971.

coat of arms

The former municipality of Schlungenhof did not have its own coat of arms. Like the municipality of Nordstetten , it also used the " Small Bavarian State Coat of Arms ". The local community has developed a logo similar to a coat of arms.

Transport and infrastructure

The district road WUG 22 and the federal road 13 , which joins the federal road 466 south , lead through the place.

In the south there is the Schlungenhof Süd-Ost industrial park with an area of around 6,000 m². The largest company there is a Bosch Industriekessel plant , formerly Loos International, which was expanded in 2005.

Since the construction of the Altmühlsee, not only agriculture, but also local recreation and tourism have played an important role. In 1987 the Schlungenhof leisure center with a beach, restaurant and sailing harbor was inaugurated. Agricultural land was rededicated as a campsite.
