Weinberg is a district of Gunzenhausen in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen .

location

The district is located on the left, south-facing slope of the Altmühl valley, southeast of Gunzenhausen's old town between Reutberg in the north and the Gunzenhausen district of Oberasbach .

history

The place name means "(Gut / Siedlung am) Weinberg (lein)". The former wasteland "Weinberg" probably goes back to the 18th century. At the end of the Holy Roman Empire a vineyard cellar existed here as a freelancer, which was temporarily inhabited, was subordinate to the town council of Gunzenhausen for rulership purposes and to the margravial caste office in Gunzenhausen for tax purposes, which had been Prussian since 1792 . In 1806 the wasteland with Gunzenhausen became Bavarian . In a description of the Rezatkreis from 1832 the settlement is described as “Weinberg, Einöde with 4 E [inhabitants], not far from Gunzenhausen, in which Ldg. [District Court; since 1808] and the Rev. [parish] district it belongs to. ”A description from 1867 says that the wasteland consists of two buildings that are inhabited by eleven (mixed denominational) residents. In 1950, there were 21 residents in four, and in 1961 18 residents in three residential buildings. Today the vineyard corridor is densely relocated; the residential area can be reached via Weinbergstrasse and Paracelsusstrasse, which branch off from Theodor-Heuss-Strasse.
