The Burke River is a river in the east of the Australian state of New South Wales .

Its source is Mount Murray , a settlement west of Macquarie Pass . The river flows through largely unpopulated area of ​​the coastal mountains of New South Wales northwards into Lake Nepean and thus into the Nepean River .

Its main tributary is the Little Burke River , which flows into Lake Nepean just before it flows into it.
