Burkhard Büdel

Burkhard Büdel (* 1953 in Frammersbach ) is a German biologist.

At the University of Marburg , Büdel was awarded a Dr. rer. nat. PhD. He then continued to work there as a postdoc until he switched to Otto Ludwig Lange at the University of Würzburg in 1990 . In 1992 he completed his habilitation there in botany . With a Heisenberg grant from the DFG, Büdel carried out research at the TU Darmstadt and the Senckenberg Institute in 1994/95 . In 1995 he followed a call from the University of Rostock to a botany professorship.

Büdel has headed the Botany working group at the University of Kaiserslautern since 1997 .

His main research interests are pro- and eukaryotic algae and lichens .
