Location of Buschkothen in Wuppertal

Buschkothen was a location in the Wuppertal district of Vohwinkel , residential quarter Schöller-Dornap , which was divided into the two residential areas Oberer Buschkothen and Unterer Buschkothen . While Oberer Buschkothen was already removed at the end of the 20th century during the southern expansion I of the limestone quarry Hahnenfurth , the Unterer Buschkothen residential area fell victim to the southern expansion II of the limestone quarry at the beginning of the 21st century.

Location and description

Buschkothen was in the north of Vohwinkel on the old route of Bundesstraße 7 , which was relocated and removed to the north as part of southern expansion I. Neighboring locations are the also lost Schmalefeld , (Alt) Dornap and Gerhardtsfurth , as well as the locations Bollenbergsdorf , Dornap , Hahnenfurth and Holthausen .

history

The farm is listed as Buschkötg on the Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies from 1715.

In the 19th century, Buschkothen was a residential area in the rural community of Unterdüssel, owned by the mayor of Wülfrath , which emerged from the Bergisch Honschaft Unterdüssel . On the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 the place is shown with bush excrement and on the Prussian first survey from 1843 with Ob. Buschkotten and Unt. Bush cottons labeled. In 1888, according to the community encyclopedia for the Rhineland province , the town had four houses with 45 residents.

The Provinzialstraße between Elberfeld and Düsseldorf was built through the place at the beginning of the 19th century, which was qualified as Reichsstraße 7 in 1934 and later renamed Bundesstraße 7. The tram line between Mettmann and Wuppertal , which was closed on May 18, 1952, ran along the road . With the municipal reform of 1975, the area around Buschkothen was incorporated into the city of Wuppertal.

At the end of the 19th century, the industrial mining of the Devonian mass limestone began in the Dornap / Hahnenfurth area, to which Buschkothen finally fell victim.
