history

At the end of the 19th century the parish was named "Butimanu-Luceanca" and belonged to the Snagov chair in Ilfov district . It included the villages of Linia-Luceanca, Luceanca, Pășcăneanca, Sterianu de Sus, Sterianu de Mijloc and Sterianu de Jos. Due to the administrative reform of 1925, the municipality of Butimanu-Lucianca became part of the Buftea-Bucoveni chair in the Ilfov district. The administrative reform of 1931 brought the merger of the villages Sterianu de Sus, Sterianu de Mijloc and Sterianu de Jos under the name Sterian. At the same time, the village of Linia-Lucianca was renamed Linia. In 1950 the municipality belonged to the Raion Răcari in the Bucureşti region. In 1968 the municipality received its current administrative structure and belonged to the Ilfov district. The villages of Linia and Sterianu were incorporated into Butimanu. Since the administrative reform of 1981, the Butimanu municipality has belonged to Dâmbovița County.
