Butterscotch (actually: Antoinette Clinton , born September 29, 1985 in Sacramento , California ) is an American musician who is best known for her beatboxing .

Career

In 2005 Butterscotch won the World Hip Hop Beatbox Woman's Championship . She had guest appearances with the group Peeping Tom and gave beatboxing workshops. She gained US-wide notoriety as a participant in the casting show America's Got Talent in 2007, in which she reached third place. Here she presented pop and soul titles with beatbox interludes or just as a singer with the orchestra. In the following years she had solo appearances at international jazz festivals, where she accompanied herself on the piano or the guitar.

In 2012 she supported Helge Schneider in five appearances as a "guest star" and also appeared on his talk show Helge hat Zeit . Excerpts from a joint stage appearance are shown here and there in the documentary Mülheim Texas - Helge Schneider . In 2013, Butterscotch played a supporting role in the movie 00 Schneider - In the tropics of the lizard .

On April 12, 2013 she played together with Max Mutzke , Simon Oslender and the WDR Big Band Cologne in the Cologne Philharmonic . On May 19, 2013 she performed together with guest star Magnus Lindgren , the saxophonist of Till Brönner , at the Jazztime 2013 in Hildesheim .

In 2014 she appeared as a resident artist a. a. with Matt Bianco , Roberto Fonseca and Wyclef Jean at the Swiss music festival Baloise Session .
