00 Schneider - In the tropics of the lizard is an absurdly comical crime film by the German comedian Helge Schneider from 2013 , who plays the main role of the detective 00 Schneider and wrote and directed the script. The premiere was on July 1, 2013 at the Munich Film Festival . The film was released in German cinemas on October 10, 2013. 00 Schneider - In the tropics of the lizard is the second feature film with the character 00 Schneider in the lead role. The first 00 Schneider film with the title 00 Schneider - The Hunt for Nihil Baxter was released in 1994. In addition, the character was already seen in a supporting role in Helge Schneider's film Texas - Doc Snyder keeps the world in suspense .
Actions
The aged inspector 00 Schneider, whose first name is Roy, who is the head of an internationally manned department of the local police force, actually wanted to retire and write his memoirs. However, in his neighborhood there is a moron, a tobacco shop is robbed and a pack of cigarettes is stolen. A farmer's chicken is also kidnapped. During the investigation in the shop, the police enrich themselves with ice cream and cigarettes. 00 Schneider solves both cases. Disguised as a prostitute, he first catches the moron as a decoy. The property crimes are attributed to the chain smoker Jean-Claude Pillemann, known as "the lizard" because of his smooth movements and hissing-hissing sounds. Pillemann is very intelligent and is also considered particularly dangerous because of his caustic saliva, which he uses as a weapon in his crimes. The commissioner even thinks it is possible that it is a lizard man. Pillemann has already found a piece of land on which he wants to set up an egg farm with the kidnapped chicken. However, he is also caught by 00 Schneider and goes to prison, where the moron is already located. There they both get beaten up and chained up.
Schneider runs away from his beloved dog in a car accident, but suddenly reappears in front of Schneider in an earthquake. A vacuum cleaner salesman visits Schneider and is brutally slammed the door in the face, which costs him several teeth. In order to get revenge, he aims at Schneider to shoot him, but does not carry out the act. His son, around ten years old, whom he can no longer support, decides to rob a bank because as a child he cannot be punished for it. The attack succeeds, the child escapes with a big bag of money. In the meantime, Schneider got severe toothache, he went to a dentist who alternately copulated with his assistant and tortured patients. Scared off by the screams of pain, Schneider leaves the practice again.
In the meantime, Schneider's aunt, whom he did not know, had come to visit him from America. She settles in Schneider's apartment and encourages him to buy a washing machine. When transporting the washing machine from the shop, the two of them get into a snowy mountain range and there are in mountain trouble, but they are rescued by a St. Bernard dog. In reality Schneider's aunt is not his aunt at all, but a con artist. This tricked Schneider with six correct numbers plus an additional number filled in lottery ticket and the associated million dollar winnings (which is paid out in cash in the kiosk), escapes in a small plane, crashes over the sea, saves himself on land and runs to Schneider in the end gone, who relaxes after his solved cases and does not follow him.

The film was funded with 550,000 euros from the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW . Shooting started on October 15, 2012, and the shooting took place in Schneider's hometown of Mülheim an der Ruhr and in Almería, Spain .
On the opening weekend, the film had 33,202 viewers and entered the German cinema charts at number 11.
The film contains various reminiscences of Schneider's earlier films as well as CDs and early radio plays.
According to Schneider, Roy Scheider , who played the policeman in the classic Jaws , is related to Commissioner 00 Schneider for over “500,000 corners”.
