Buzz Barton (racing driver)
Emmett Maurice "Buzz" Barton (born October 7, 1916 in Chickasha , Oklahoma , † April 17, 2002 in Kingston , Oklahoma) was an American racing driver .
Career
Barton got into racing through an acquaintance. He drove his first midget car race in California in 1935. After World War II, he started in his home state of Oklahoma, where he won the championship title in 1948. He drove until 1973 midget and sprint car races in US-wide championships, in which he was able to achieve some victories, but no championships.
Between 1951 and 1958 he competed in ten races in the AAA / USAC National Series . His best result was a fifth place in 1952 in Denver . His two attempts to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 mile race failed in 1952 and 1953 .
