Buzz Kilman
Buzz Kilman (born August 19, 1944 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American radio host .
Life
Kilman was born in Detroit in 1944, but moved several times in his early teens, as his father often changed employers as a public relations specialist. The family eventually settled in Miami , where Kilman attended Coral Gables High School and later the University of Miami . At the university he became editor of the campus newspaper. He later became entertainment editor for the Coral Gables Times and then moved to the Daily Planet as editor.
In 1972 Kilman switched to radio and became Public Service Director of WBUS-FM's "The Magic Bus" in Miami Beach , which was one of the first American rock radio stations. He stayed there until 1974 when his superiors discovered that most of Kilman's late night interviews were fake. In the same year he got his first full-time job as a moderator at WSHE-FM in Fort Lauderdale . He was responsible for the morning news and a weekend talk show.
In 1980 Kilman moved to Chicago , where he got an engagement with WLUP-FM and worked with presenters such as Steve Dahl and Mark McEwen . From 1984 he was Jonathon Brandmeier 's sidekick . Both worked together on the show until 1997. When Brandmeier left the station, Kilman followed him to WCKG in 1999. From 2001 he was the presenter of the Temporary Buzz Kilman Show . The following year he was again sidekick for Steve Dahl. From 2007 onwards, both were responsible for the morning news on WJMK as a team. From 2012 he worked again with Jonathon Brandmeier for the station WGN.
Kilman attended school with Jonathan Demme and remained friends with him throughout his life. Demme cast Kilman in small roles in many of his films. Kilman portrayed a paramedic in The Silence of the Lambs and a man on crutches in Philadelphia .
Buzz Kilman lives in Chicago with his wife Aimee and their daughter Piper Kilman.
