The Rabennest is a mountain in the northwestern Odenwald, east of Darmstadt .
description
The 236.2 m high mountain in the Darmstadt forest area is heavily forested. Aschaffenburger Strasse and B 26 (Hanauer Strasse) as well as the museum railway line are located north of the raven nest . On the western edge of the mountain there is a spring ("Dietersbrunnen"). On the eastern edge there is a youth center and the listed Bessunger Forsthaus . Southeast of the raven nest is the nature reserve Großer and Kleiner Bruch near Roßdorf and the Ruthsenbach with the "Ludwigsteich".

etymology
Old High German raban and Middle High German raben , rabe meaning "raven". In southern Hesse , both ravens and rooks are referred to as "raven". As a rule, the name refers to the numerous occurrences of ravens or rooks.
In southern Hesse, the gallows was often referred to as Rabenstein . Perhaps the name Rabenbaum also refers to an execution site .
