The Bystrov Rock ( Russian Скала Быстрова Skala Bystrowa , in Norway Bystrovnabben ) is a rock formation in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It rises 1.5 km south-southeast of the Isdalsegga in the southern Petermann chain of the Wohlthat massif .
The rock was mapped using aerial photographs and measurements taken by the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960) and again during a Soviet expedition that lasted from 1960 to 1961. Participants in the latter research trip named him after the Soviet paleontologist Alexei Petrovich Bystrow (1899-1959). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred the name to English in 1970.
