Cédric Si Mohamed , often just called Cédric ( Arabic سدريك سي محمد, DMG Sidrīk Sī Muḥammad ; * January 9, 1985 in Roanne ), is an Algerian - French football player who is currently under contract with CS Constantine as a goalkeeper and is also active in the Algerian national team .
Athletic career
Club career
Cédric was born the son of an Algerian and a Frenchwoman in Roanne in the Loire department , where he began playing football at AS Châtenoy-le-Royal. At the age of twelve he moved to FC Gueugnon and went through the youth teams there. For the 2004/05 season he moved up to the professional squad of the club playing in Ligue 2 , where the current captain of the Algerian national team Madjid Bougherra was also active at the same time . Despite the fact that he came mainly in the reserve team of the club during seasons, he acted as a substitute goalkeeper towards the end of the season.
The following summer he moved to the fourth French division, the CFA , to AS Yzeure . There he was able to assert himself for the first time as a regular goalkeeper. Nevertheless, he moved to league rivals Jura Sud Football , who was coached by Diego Garzitto , who he would meet again in his later time at CS Constantine , in the next season . In the 2007/08 season he was finally obliged by the fourth-rate Vesoul HSF , where he was also able to assert himself in the starting line-up. His last stint in France so far followed in the 2008/09 season when he joined FC Montceau .
At the age of 25, Si Mohamed signed his first professional contract when he was signed by the Algerian first division club JSM Bejaïa in June 2009 . With the Bejaouis he was able to become runner-up in the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons, which is why he was also active in the CAF Champions League .
At the beginning of the 2013/14 season he decided to move to CS Constantine , where he signed a two-year contract.
National team
Like many other outstanding players in the Algerian league, he has been a regular member of the Algerian local national team since 2009 . He played his only international B match in March 2010 in a 4-0 win over Liechtenstein , before the local national team was disbanded in summer 2013.
In May 2012 he was appointed to the squad of the Algerian national team for the first time , where he made his only international appearance on May 26 in the friendly against Niger .
Since then he has been a permanent member of the national team and was the third goalkeeper at the 2013 Africa Cup .
After he was appointed to the provisional squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil in May 2014 , he was also able to prevail against his direct competitor Azzedine Doukha , so that he was subsequently part of the Fennecs' final squad at this tournament.
