César Malan
Henri Abraham César Malan (born July 7, 1787 in Geneva , † May 8, 1864 in Vandœuvres , Canton of Geneva ) was a teacher, reformed pastor and composer of hymns .
Malan came from a Huguenot family who immigrated to Geneva at the beginning of the 18th century . Under the influence of the Geneva revival movement of the Réveil , he founded the strictly Calvinist "Church of Witness" in 1820 and worked through evangelizations , tracts and songs as far as the Netherlands , England , Wales (for example as the composer of the hymn Dyma Geidwad I'r Colledig ) and to the Waldensians .
The melody of the hymn Harre, my soul, wait for the Lord comes from Malan ( EG 623 Württ.).
