César Santin (born February 24, 1981 in Porto Alegre ) is a Brazilian football player who currently plays in the Superliga at FC Copenhagen . Santin mostly plays as a striker or attacking midfielder .

Career

Before moving to Sweden, Santin played for various clubs in Brazil and began his career at São José EC . In 2001 Santin completed his first professional season there. Then he moved a year later to the first Brazilian league to Gremio Porto Alegre , but was just as unable to assert himself as a regular player as in 2003 at EC Vitória .

In 2004 he finally returned to São José EC , after a few months to move to Kalmar FF in Sweden , where the offensive all-rounder experienced its heyday and consistently shone as a goalscorer in four years. In 2008 he was even able to win the Swedish championship with Kalmar.

After this success, however, Santin moved to Denmark for FC Copenhagen . The parties have agreed not to disclose the transfer fee. He made his debut on July 27, 2008, when he replaced William Kvist in the 1-1 away game against Randers FC in the 46th minute . His first goal for Copenhagen was against Lilleström SK in the UEFA Cup to win 1-0. With Santin's winning goal against Club Bruges in the last group game, Copenhagen even made it into the knockout round of the competition a few months later. At the end of the season, the Danish trophy and championship doubles were won . In the following two seasons, too, Santin and FC Copenhagen could not be pushed out of the top of the table. After failing last year, Copenhagen qualified for the Champions League in 2010/11 thanks to a goal from Santin . Santin had scored 15 goals in the Danish league by May 15th, more than ever in one season.

Santin still has a contract in Copenhagen until June 30, 2013 and is considered an important element in the Copenhagen offensive style.
