Cölestin Bohm
Cölestin Böhm OSB (* around 1664 in Vienna as Augustin Böhm ; † December 17, 1731 in Anras ) was an Austrian Catholic clergyman. From 1704 to 1709 he was abbot of the St. Georgenberg-Fiecht monastery in Tyrol .
Life
Before joining the monastery, Böhm was an officer in the genius corps of the Imperial Army . On June 2, 1704 he was elected abbot. After the St. Georgenberg monastery was destroyed in a devastating fire in 1705, he had it relocated to the Inn Valley , as had been planned in the 17th century, and rebuilt in Fiecht. To do this, he himself designed the blueprint for an extensive, magnificent monastery complex. During construction, it disappeared without a trace in 1709 with funds from the monastery. The construction stopped for many years and could not be completed until 1744. Böhm settled under the name "Adolf von Krummbach" in Bamberg , where he is said to have married. In 1726 he identified himself to the Abbot of St. Michael in Bamberg and returned to Tyrol in 1730 with remorse. The Prince-Bishop of Bressanone, Kaspar Ignaz von Künigl , placed him in Anras , where he lived unrecognized and in penance until his death.
Cölestin Böhm's life was processed by Martin Spörr in the opera Der Abt von Fiecht , which premiered in 1914.
