Ships of the type C-Box , also called Compact-Box , of the Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) are multi-purpose container motor ships . The series of this type of ship built between 1997 and 2000 by the Flensburg shipyard comprised a total of eleven units.

history

After the takeover of the Flensburg shipyard by the Lübeck shipowner Egon Oldendorff , FSG developed the Ecobox concept in the early 1990s, which was manufactured in two versions until 1997. The shipyard then focused on building a smaller type of ship with a load capacity of around 20,000 tons.

The C-Box is a multi-purpose container ship with five holds and two 60-t cranes. The five box-shaped cargo holds without undercuts or protruding components have a grain volume of 25,000 m³ and are closed with pontoon hatch covers that can accommodate a deck load of 60/90 tonnes per TEU / FEU space. As a multi-purpose ship, the C-Box design is set up not only for the transport of around 1300 TEU containers, 556 of which can be loaded in space, but also for the transport of bulk cargoes or forest products. Furthermore, large continuous deck areas and the side-mounted cranes with a capacity of 60 tons each allow the transport of project loads.

The eleven compact box ships were bought by shipping companies / issuing houses Oldendorff Carriers , Münchmeyer Petersen Capital , Briese / BBC and HCI / Marconsult. The construction price was around 20 million US dollars each.
