Karl-Heinz Günther (writer)
Karl-Heinz Günther , pseudonym CH Guenter (born March 24, 1924 near Nuremberg ; † June 5, 2005 in Herrsching am Ammersee ), was a German writer and author of detective novels .
Life
Günther attended high school in Nuremberg and graduated from high school. In 1942 he was drafted into the navy and from 1943 served, among other things, the submarine weapon as a naval officer. His great autobiographical novel Die Noris-Banditen (2005), BLITZ-Verlag, deals with these years.
After the war, Günther began to write for the Erich-Pabel-Verlag in Rastatt . In 1959 he invented the legendary New York private investigator " Commissioner X " (KX), a product that competed with the New York FBI employee, the 'G-man' " Jerry Cotton " from Bastei-Verlag . For the crime series with KX Günther wrote as "Bert F. Island" between 1959 and 1966 fifty-eight novels and 51 paperback novels. Three of these paperbacks have been translated into French, one into Italian and one into Romanian. The series ran for 34 years, as it was continued by various other authors until it was discontinued in 1992.
Günther was asked to improve a script for “arch rival” Jerry Cotton.
Between 1965 and 1992, at least for 28 years, he wrote 314 paperback novels as "CH Guenter" for the spy series about the BND agent Robert (Bob) Urban alias " Mister Dynamit " (MD), which was originally also in the Pabel -Publisher came out. At that time unpublished manuscripts were then partly continued by Oerindur-Verlag or BLITZ-Verlag (from 2001 to 2005) (5 pieces so far; 4 pieces have not yet been published). Some of the novels have also been translated into English, Spanish, Italian, and Turkish. Seven novels even appeared in the United States.
In the last years of his life, CH Guenter wrote submarine novels for Ullstein Verlag , which were also successful. Some of Günther's works were published under his pseudonym CH Guenter by Josef J. Preyer at Oerindur Verlag.
