The CSBC 2200 series is a series of container ships built at the China Shipbuilding Corporation shipyard in Kaohsiung , Taiwan .
history
The ships in the series were built from 1997 to 2003 for various clients. In addition to the Hamburg-based Rickmers shipping company , which purchased a large number of ships, several units went to German one-ship companies. Five built for single-ship ships were financed by the Fund Haus Hamburg and the Ahrenkiel Group bereedert . In 2013, bankruptcy was filed for all five ships of the one-ship companies. The ships were initially laid up and later sold together to the Rickmers shipping company. One ship in the series, the Clasen Rickmers built for Rickmers Reederei , was sold to Victoria Oceanway in 2012.
Further construction contracts came from the French shipping companies Compagnie Générale Maritime , or their successors CMA CGM and Delmas .
technology
The ships are powered by a two - stroke diesel engine made by MAN , which was built under license by Hyundai Heavy Industries. Most units of the series are equipped with a seven-cylinder engine of the type 7S70MC with 20,874 kW power facilities. An eight-cylinder 8S70MC engine with an output of 22,470 kW was installed in some units . The motors act on a fixed propeller. The ships can thus reach a speed of around 18 to 20 knots .
Four generator sets , each with an apparent power of 1837.5 kVA, are available for the power supply . An emergency generator with 150 kVA apparent power was also installed.
The container capacity of the ships is around 2225 TEU , of which around 60% can be stowed in space and 40% on deck. With homogeneous loading with 14 ton containers , around 1740 containers can be loaded. 300 connections are available for refrigerated containers.
The deckhouse is located in the rear third of the ships. Behind the deckhouse are two 40-foot bays, which are equipped with cell scaffolding up to the sixth tier on deck . The ships in the series are equipped with three cranes with a lifting capacity of 45 tons each, two of which are located in front of the deckhouse between Bays 6 and 8 as well as 14 and 16 and one directly behind the deckhouse.
Special
On December 28, 2014, the Spirit of Piraeus took part in a rescue operation in the Adriatic in adverse weather conditions and took passengers on the burning Norman Atlantic , which was manned by around 500 people. The captain of the ship said they were proud to have been able to help. The container ship finally brought 49 people to Bari / Italy on December 29, 2014 .
