Cacolo is a small town in Angola .

history

The district of Cacolo was created on June 23, 1934 under Portuguese colonial administration . In the Portuguese colonial war (1961–1975) and in the following civil war in Angola (1975–2002), the district suffered severe damage. Since the peace treaty in 2002 and the increasing reconstruction, Cacolo has slowly recovered.

Cacolo is the seat of a district of the same name ( Município ) in the province of Lunda Sul . The district has around 76,000 inhabitants (2012 estimate) on an area of ​​13,834 km². From now on, the 2014 census will provide reliable population data.
