The cadrature (also Cadratur or Kadraktur ) is an additional switching mechanism in complicated watches . It is the clock technology term for a modular mechanism for additional functions of clocks. It is a kind of intermediate gear to the movement , either inserted between the movement and the dial or, in the more elaborate form, integrated into the movement itself to enable further functions.

Cadratures are made by cadraturists .
