The Cairo Stadium Indoor Halls Complex ( Arabic مجمع الصالات المغطاة باستاد القاهرة الدولي) is a complex of four multi-purpose halls in the Nasr City district of the Egyptian capital Cairo . It is located next to the Cairo International Stadium .
history
The four circular halls of the Cairo Stadium Indoor Halls Complex were built to host the 1991 African Games . The architectural office Magd Al-Masara was responsible for the design. The main hall offers 16,900 seats, hall 2 has 1620 seats for visitors and halls 2 and 3 are each equipped with 720 seats. The four domes are made of iron and are supported by steel cables . The complex was the venue for world and African championships in the ball sports handball , basketball and volleyball . In 2005 the Judo World Championships were held in the Cairo Stadium Indoor Halls Complex. After the 1999 World Cup which will Handball World Championship for Men 2021 again stop in Cairo. In addition to sports, other events such as concerts , shows , cultural events , exhibitions , conferences or celebrations are organized in the complex.
In 2016 the halls were equipped with an LED lighting system. The 160 spotlights in the main hall only use 50 percent of the energy of the old system.
