Names

The section between Paseo Olas Altas and Calle Heriberto Frías was previously named after Vicente Guerrero , a hero of the Mexican struggle for independence . In 1905 the street was named Guelatao in honor of the birthplace of Mexico's most famous President Benito Juárez . In the 1940s, the street was named Calle Del Vigía after the hill of the same name, on whose west side the Paseo del Centenario runs.

The current name of the street is dedicated to General Ángel Flores , who was governor of the state of Sinaloa from 1920 to 1924 .

course

The road begins in the west over the Pacific Ocean at the point where the Paseo Olas Altas in the Paseo Claussen passes. It heads east and ends at Calle General Francisco Serrano .

Buildings

The building complex, located between the cross streets Venus and Niños Héroes on the south side of the street, was originally inhabited by Jesuits . After the building became state property in 1870, it was converted into a military hospital in 1890. Today it houses, among other things, part of the Universidad Politécnica de Sinaloa .

Opposite the Plazuela Miguel Hidalgo and the Calle Campana running along it is the former Casa de la Minera de Panuco at number 410 on Calle Ángel Flores . The name of the house, which is still known today, dates from the 1770s, when the ground floor housed the administration of the mining company of the same name , while the upper floor served as a residence.

To the west of Calle Cinco de Mayo is the Palacio Municipal with its entrance on the central Plazuela República , on the north side of which the Cathedral Basílica de La Inmaculada rises.

Famous residents
