Cameron Girdlestone

Cameron Girdlestone (born April 29, 1988 in Sydney ) is an Australian rower .

Girdlestone started rowing in 2002. In 2005 he finished eighth with the four-man without a helmsman at the Junior World Championships ; In 2007 he finished ninth at the U23 World Championships with the lightweight four without a helmsman .

The 1.90 m tall Cameron Girdlestone from the Sydney University Boat Club completed his sports studies and only competed internationally for Australia in 2014 when a regatta in the Rowing World Cup was held in Sydney. At the World Cup in Sydney he won with the Australian double scull and finished second with the double scull . At the 2014 World Championships , the Australian double scull finished 15th. In 2015, Girdlestone was the only one from the previous year's boat who was still in a quadruple at the World Championships . The new four-four with David Crawshay , Karsten Forsterling , Cameron Girdlestone and David Watts won the silver medal behind the German four-four.

At the Rowing World Cup in Lucerne and in Poznan in 2016, the re-occupied double foursome with Karsten Forsterling, Alexander Belonogoff , Cameron Girdlestone and James McRae won . At the 2016 Olympic Games , the Australians received the silver medal behind the German boat.
