The Camiguin de Babuyanes is an active stratovolcano on the island of Camiguin Island in the Philippines . Camiguin Island is part of the Babuyan Archipelago in the Cagayan Province north of Luzon . The Camiguin de Babuyanes is located in the southwest of the 22 km long island. It is forested and reaches a height of 712 m above sea level, with a base diameter of about 3.2 kilometers.
The last eruption around 1857 resulted in a phreatic explosion . Fumaroles are located in the southwest, west and east of the volcano. A boiling hot spring lies west of the volcano near the coast. Reviews by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology in 1991 and 1993 found no evidence of increased volcanic activity.
