Camill Heller

Camill Heller (born September 26, 1823 in Teplitz , Bohemia , † February 25, 1917 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian zoologist .

Heller studied medicine and zoology at the University of Vienna , where he received his doctorate in medicine in 1849. From 1858 to 1863 he was Professor of Zoology and Comparative Anatomy at the University of Krakow . From 1863 to 1894 he taught as a professor of zoology at the University of Innsbruck .

He examined crustacea (crustaceans) both in the Vienna Natural History Museum and during a circumnavigation of the earth from 1857 to 1859 on board the frigate Novara and a North Pole expedition on board the research ship S / X Admiral Tegetthoff .
