Camillo Cardinal Laurenti (born November 20, 1861 in Monte Porzio Catone , Province of Rome , Italy , † September 6, 1938 in Rome ) was an Italian clergyman and cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Camillo Laurenti studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University , the specialist Catholic theology , he was a seminarian at the Capranica College and received on 7 June 1884, the sacrament of Holy Orders . Until 1908 he worked as a lecturer at the Pontifical Athenaeum "De Propaganda Fide" and as an employee of the Congregation Propaganda Fide .

In 1908 he became Undersecretary and in 1911 Secretary of the same congregation. From 1911 Camillo Laurenti worked as an advisor to the Holy Office , whose consultor he became on March 4, 1912. From 1917 he held the same office in the Congregation for the Eastern Churches .

In the consistory of June 13, 1921, Pope Benedict XV took him . as cardinal deacon with the title deaconry Santa Maria della Scala in the college of cardinals . Pope Pius XI appointed him Prefect of the Religious Congregation in 1922 and Pro-Prefect of the Congregation for Rites in 1928 . In the same year he became a cardinal protodeacon , an office he held until 1935. On September 6th of the same year he was accepted into the class of cardinal priests , his title diakonia was raised pro illa vice to the title church . Camillo Cardinal Laurenti died in Rome on September 6, 1938 and was buried in the Campo Verano cemetery.
